Dual Credit
General Information and Application Page
Thank you for your interest in the Holy Cross/Our Lady of the Lake University Dual Credit Program. Below you will find helpful information and instructions on how to complete the first step in the application process.
Location: All courses will be held on the Our Lady of the Lake University campus. Transportation will be provided by Holy Cross Transportation Services. Only under extreme circumstances will students be dropped off or picked up from OLLU campus by parties other than Holy Cross Transportation Services. AT NO TIME ARE STUDENTS TO DRIVE THEMSELVES TO AND FROM OLLU CAMPUS.
Cost: The course’s tuition will be $250. Students should not purchase books from outside of the OLLU bookstore. Books are provided through the agreement between Holy Cross and OLLU. The cost for the use of the class materials is assessed at a very reduced rate compared to those of outside vendors. In the event that a family chooses to buy books outside of the OLLU bookstore, it will be at their own risk and cost. Families will not be reimbursed for the cost of any book used for the course bought outside of the OLLU/Holy Cross agreement. Every student will be charged for the course books through the OLLU bookstore and have access to the materials through the agreement between OLLU and Holy Cross.
Courseload: Students are expected to maintain the course load they begin with in the fall semester. This is to say that, if a student takes two courses in the fall semester, the student is expected to take two courses in the spring. Likewise, if a student takes one course in the fall, then the student is expected to carry one course in the spring semester. Students will complete Holy Cross graduation requirements for at least the first two semesters in the OLLU Dual Credit Program.
Benefits: Courses count towards high school graduation AND will appear on the students’ college transcript, courses are transferable to any college that the student chooses to attend, and students start building their college transcript while getting exposure to college level coursework on an actual college campus with college professors
Application Requirements: Qualifying students will have an overall GPA of at least 3.6 when submitting the application; show success in honors or AP courses with an overall average of 87 or above; show a sense of maturity when it comes to behavior at all times.
