Business Trip to Corpus

Previewing Holy Cross vs JP II CC

by Jacob Bermudez ('25) on October 10, 2025

After taking care of business in Boerne, the Holy Cross Knights (4-2,2-0) are headed south to Corpus Christi for another key district matchup, this time against the John Paul II Centurions (1-4,0-0). It's a classic business trip game: handle the travel, stay locked in, and keep the winning streak alive.

The Knights come in with momentum on both sides of the ball. Senior running back Taylor Flores, fresh off his Player of the Game performance and San Antonio Gunslingers Player of the Week, has been the driving force of the offense. He’s topped over 800 yards rushing and continues to set the tone early in games. Sophomore quarterback Rocky Orozco has kept defenses guessing, spreading the ball around and using his legs when plays break down, now with 19 total touchdowns and zero interceptions through six games.

Defensively, Holy Cross has been sharp, allowing under 14 points per game over their last four wins and coming away with five interceptions last week. That turnover mentality will be tested again Friday as the Knights take on a Centurions offense led by senior quarterback Randy Garcia, a dynamic athlete who can keep plays alive and make defenses pay when he gets outside the pocket. His go-to target, sophomore Matthew Molina, has proven to be a dependable receiver who can make big catches when it counts.

John Paul II’s offensive line is big but not overly quick, which could play right into the Knights’ favor. Expect Holy Cross to bring pressure and control the line of scrimmage early to force Garcia into uncomfortable throws.

For the Knights, it's another chance to prove why they're a top contender in TAPPS Division III. They've shown they can win with physicality, discipline, and playmaking.

Kickoff is set for tonight at 7 pm in Corpus Christi, with live stream by Texas Sports Productions. The Knights are locked in, confident, and ready to take care of business once again, this time in Corpus.
